Workshops & Residencies with Jordan Denae

I help students explore creativity, develop visual storytelling skills, and connect art to their lives, communities, and curriculum.

On This Page

Hi, I’m Jordan Denae Jung — a graphic designer and teaching artist based in Knox County. I specialize in creative workshops that connect visual arts, design, and storytelling to classroom content. With a BFA in Graphic Design and a background in digital media, I bring real-world design experience into engaging, hands-on projects for students.

I’m a teaching artist with the Kentucky Arts Council and Partners for Rural Impact, and I was a fellow in the second Appalachian Teaching Artist Fellowship. My workshops can be tailored to a variety of grade levels and subjects, and I’m passionate about helping students explore creativity, build confidence, and understand the role of art in their communities.

Workshops & Residencies

Personal + Community Logo Design

Students explore identity and community by designing personal logos that reflect their values, interests, and personality through color and symbolism. After refining their designs through peer feedback, they collaborate on a shared community or county logo that represents their collective voice. This project can be adapted from a single 45-minute session to a multi-day residency.

Handprint Mural Project

In this collaborative art project, students trace their hands and fill them with symbols that represent their interests, values, and identity. The handprints are then scanned and arranged digitally into a custom design—such as the school mascot or another meaningful image—that can be printed as a mural or window cling for a lasting visual display.

Zine Creation

Students create a mini “magazine” or book called a zine, using just one sheet of paper, simple folding techniques, and a single cut with scissors. Depending on the grade level, they either follow a guided layout or design their own, exploring storytelling, illustration, and self-expression in a fun and creative way.

Laser Cutter Demo & Project

Experience the excitement of laser technology as students watch a live demonstration of a laser cutter in action and discover how it's used in art and design. After the demo, students assemble a pre-cut six-sided die and play an interactive game that reinforces key concepts about the tool and its creative potential.

Digital Art Projects

(I have five camera that can be brought in)

5-Photo Storytelling Sequence
Create a photo sequence that tells a story using school surroundings.

Printmaking Projects

(I have a mini printing press that can be brought in)

Cardboard Printmaking
Create a relief print using cardboard and acrylics.

Bubble Printmaking
Use soap bubbles and paint to make colorful, textured prints.

Will It Print?
